Garuda is a legendary bird in the Hindu mythology and is often described as the king of birds owing to his master and its own powers. He is the vahan (vehicle or mount) of Lord Vishnu and his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi seated beside him as pictured in the panel here. Garuda is deemed as the protector with the ability to reach anywhere swiftly, and is typically shown with a serpent in its claws, signifying the mighty bird as the destroyer of all poison and evil.
