The Nettoor box is a traditional jewellerybox of Kerala and was conventionally used by the women of aristocratic families. It is a wooden boxmade with some particular mathematical compositions followed by the rules of ‘Tachusastram’ an ancient architecture science followed in Kerala, and is a wonderful mix of beauty and craftsmanship. Nettoor box is also known as Malabarbox or Amaadapetti in different parts of Kerala. It is hand-made, hand-painted and adorned with brass work. The jewel box which was previously used to store ornaments and jewels since time immemorial, is now used as decorative piece. This box pictured here is made of mahogany wood.
