Raja Ravi Varma, also known as 'The Father of Modern Indian Art' was an Indian artist of the 18th century prominently known for his realistic portrayal of Indian gods. He attained fame and recognition for portraying scenes from the epics of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. Ravi Varma made his lithographs affordable and easily accessible for the public making them popular among the common folk and introducing them to the fine arts. Some of his most admired artworks include: “Kadambari”, “Radha Krishna”, “Lady with Swarbat”, “Woman holding a fruit” and “There comes papa”.
