ABOUT TANJORE PAINTINGS
Tanjore paintings, a classical style originating in the 17th century from Tanjore in Tamil Nadu, are renowned for their vivid colors, iconic compositions, and elaborately gilded gesso and glass bead or semi-precious gemstone inlay to represent ancient religious themes.
DESCRIPTION
Rajamannar, also known as Rajagopalaswamy, is a manifestation of Lord Krishna in the town of Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu - portrayed here as a young indigo-clad shepherd with a whip in hand, accompanied by a cow and calf. His gear is symbolic of his courageous fight against Kamsa's assassins during adolescence. Under the patronage of the 16th century Thanjavur Nayakas, the Rajagopalaswamy Temple of Mannargudi was developed significantly, earning it the title of 'Dakshina Dwaraka' or 'Dwaraka of the South'. In the vicinity of the temple town, locals believe Sri Krishna re-enacted his thirty-two leelas (chapters of incarnation) for the sages Gopillar and Gopralayar.
ELEGANCE
Believed to be symbols of auspiciousness, Tanjore paintings are cherished as treasured antiques. Expert artisans hand-craft each piece, emphasizing detail and accuracy to create a work of art that is fit to adorn any wall and impart a regal air.
This Rajamannar krishna Tanjore Painting is an exceptional gift option for any celebration, imbuing timeless elegance.
