This beautiful collectible is a wooden lacquer box from Malabar region of the erstwhile Kerala. These boxes were used to store small jewelry pieces, trinkets, or precious objects.

This is entirely hand made and the textured coloring is obtained by pressing a lac stick against a spinning wooden pot. Lacquer pots of high quality are a rare find box fitted with original brass hardware and chain.
